So in order to keep our collectors happy we need sellers and in order to keep our sellers happy we need to offer them a great service, and we do. In fact we have some sellers who have been bringing us parts of their collection to sell for many years.
We are interested in selling all types of vintage and modern collectable toys and models (Boxed & Un-Boxed!) including, diecast toys, trains, soldiers, tin-plate, action figures and shop/stock clearances.
Obviously before you can even begin to think about selling your collection you need to have some idea as to what it might be worth. Here we are happy to help. You can simply pick up the phone and somebody will be glad to give you advice, or send us a list of the items in your collection and we will give it our full attention and get back to you with a valuation. Worldwide Pick-Up Service
We can pick-up your collection in the UK within 24 hours with our carrier service. For very large collections we can send our own van usually within 7 days. We also regularly sell collections from North America and Europe. Contact us for advice and help with shipping your collection to the UK. We are often able to arrange collection from here.
At ToyMart we aim to give you peace of mind. We do not have any minimum charges or extra hidden fees, like additional costs for insurance or photographing. There are also no charges for unsold lots. In fact we are so confident that we will sell everything for you that we will return any unsold lots for free.
We Keep You Informed
Once we have sorted, photographed and listed your collection for sale you will be sent a full report via email or post with details of all lots including start and reserve prices. Reserve prices are not set in stone so if you have any concerns just talk to us and we will address any issues you might have. You can follow the sale of your collection online and we will automatically email you additional reports.
Reserve Prices
All our auctions have a start and reserve price. The start price is what we consider to be the maximum value that any lot could reasonably be expected to sell for. The reserve price is what we consider to be a realistic trade price for the same lot. We will not sell an item below the reserve price without your permission.
Unlike most other auctions we sell your toys on a Dutch Auction basis. The lots are started at a high price and then the price is slowly reduced until a buyer purchases the item.
Why do we use this system?
Well the Dutch Auction has a number of advantages over traditional auctions.
Firstly with a traditional auction you need two bidders prepared to pay a high price before that price can be achieved. For example if bidder “A” is prepared to bid £100 for an item bidder “B” must bid £95 (presuming the bid increment is £5) for this price to be achieved. However if bidder “B” only bids £30 then bidder “A” will only have to pay £35 to win the auction.
With a Dutch Auction bidder “A” must decide when the price is £100 if he is going to risk waiting for the next price reduction, since he is already prepared to pay this price he is unlikely to wait and take the chance of losing the auction.
Another advantage of the Dutch Auction is that the item is always available for an instant purchase. We have many visitors come to our premises to view items which they can then purchase at the current price and take with them. ToyMart also attends major toy fairs in the UK and displays quality auction lots which can again be purchased immediately.
Commission From 5%
Normally we expect a collection to sell within 4 to 8 weeks after first having been listed for sale. Your payment will be sent to you at the end of the month on which the last lot sold.
Our commission charges are as follows:
Lots selling for over £500.00 ................... 5% Commission
Lots selling from £200 to £499.00 ....... 10% Commission
Lots selling for below £200 ............ ....17.5% Commission
VAT is charged on the commission only.
FREE CD
After your collection has sold we will send you a free CD with a copy of all the pictures we have taken of your toys/models during the auction process.
